‘Rocket League’ Halloween event news: ‘Haunted Hallows’ kicks off

Players get ready to earn some Candy Corn, “Rocket League” special Halloween event is officially on for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users.
On Oct. 16, Psyonix officially kicked off “Haunted Hallows,” the first ever Halloween-themed event for “Rocket League.”
Although released in time for Halloween, the theme is not at all spooky. The event introduces a new and limited currency called Candy Corn, which can be earned by completing online matches. These can be accessed by clicking on the “Special Event” icon on the main menu screen.
The more games online, the more chances of earning Candy Corn, which players can use to redeem Halloween items, Decryptors, and locked Haunted Hallows crates. It should be noted that all Candy Corn will expire a week after the event but the purchased items will not. So players should be careful to trade in all their Candy Corn as soon as possible.
Psyonix has also added a new way to unlock crates by means of Decryptors, which can only be purchased using Candy Corn. These can unlock any crate in the game but players beware — crates unlocked using Decryptors cannot be traded. Those planning to trade an unlocked item should use a normal key.
Meanwhile, the new Haunted Hallows event crates will be available only during the event. There are three ways to get them — through occasional crate drops on online matches, by using Candy Corn to redeem crates, or by purchasing event crates directly (these do not need Decryptors or keys to be unlocked). Crates purchased directly are also untradeable, although its contents can be traded after the “normal seven-day trade hold window.”
As a bonus, the Haunted Hallows crates will not be updated next Halloween. That means the potential of its locked items will remain even if the player happens to wait a year before opening them.
“Haunted Hallows” will be available until Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. EDT.
